Abstract: Otto Fenichel was born on December 2, 1897 in Vienna. He decided to become a psychoanalyst and began his training while a medical student. He received his MD from the University of Vienna in 1921 and moved to Berlin in 1922 to complete his training at the Berlin Psychoanalytic Institute.
