Biography
Thomas Gilman was born about 1830 in Tennessee and had moved to Tuolumne County, California by 1850. He is listed as a miner
in the 1852 California census. He bought his freedom in 1853 and worked as a farmer in Shaw's Flat in 1892. He died in 1911
and is buried in Shaw's Flat.
