Biography
Edward Sheffield Stephenson was educated at the Pasadena Playhouse College of the Theatre, CA (1935-37); one of the founders
and organizers of the Theatre of the Fifteen, Inc. (1939), he served as director, art director, or producer for various playhouses
and theaters in the US (1937-43); entered the Army Air Corp in 1943 and went on to be producer-director for the Far East Network
(1946-52), the American Theatre, Far East (1948-), and Special Services Road Shows (1949-52); in 1948, he was appointed Director
of Entertainment and Music for the entire Far East Command; he is the recipient of four Emmy Awards; his numerous credits
include "The Andy Williams Show," "Benson," "Carter Country," "The Danny Kaye Show," "Sanford and Son," and "The Golden Girls."

Collection consists of original working drawings designed and drawn by Edward Stephenson for the planning, direction, construction,
and use in avariety of television productions. Includes set designs, some production material, and occasional blueprints.
Contains drawings for 59 shows originating on ABC, NBC, and CBS, including "The Danny Kaye Show" (644 items), "Sanford and
Son" (171 items), "The Andy Williams Show" (374 items), "Soap" (202 items), "Benson" (147 items), "Tennessee Ernie Ford Show"
(168 items), "Maude," "Good Times," and "What's Happening."
