Description
This collection is comprised of correspondence, photographs, diaries, genealogies, ephemera, and newsclippings, books and booklets. Letters constitute the bulk of the material. Most of the collection centers on Rosalie Meyer Stern's life as a daughter, sister, cousin, mother, and grandmother. There is relatively little material from her role as a civic activist (SF Recreation and Park Commissioner, board member of Associated Charities, philanthropist in the fields of education, music, and recreation, a founder of the San Francisco Opera Association, on the Women's Board of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and Associate Field Director of Military Relief for the American Red Cross). Rosalie's daughter, Elise Stern Haas, is a secondary focus of the collection.
