Description
This collection documents the activities of Interval Research Corp. to foster new technologies that had yet to reach competitiveness
and to encourage companies to form around these new concepts, technologies, and products.
Background
Founded in 1992 by Paul Allen, Interval Research Corp., Palo Alto, Calif., was a research setting which sought to define the
concerns, map out the concepts and create the technology that will be important in the future. Interval pursued basic innovations
in a number of pre-competitive technologies and sought to foster industries around them--sparking opportunity for entrepreneurs
and highlighting new ways of researching technology. To bring a fresh perspective, Interval gathered a broad range of people
to make up its research staff, including filmmakers, clothes designers, musicians, cognitive psychologists, artists, computer
scientists, journalists and software developers. Paul Allen closed down Interval in 2000.
