ABSTRACT

This document was the journal of a sailor in the U.S. Navy, First Assistant Engineer, and resident of Brooklyn, N.Y. Included are observations regarding the West Indies, South Atlantic, South America, Mexico, Japan, China, an overland journey from New Jersey to San Francisco by train, and Washington, D.C. The journal also contains transcripts of outgoing letters written by Cline.
