Scope and content:

The collection consists of correspondence, reports, financial records, photographs, and videotapes documenting American agricultural assistance to Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine.

Biographical / historical:

The Russian Farm Supply Fund ("ะกะตัั‚ะตะปัŒ") was an American foundation that promoted the revival of agriculture in Russia by sending seeds and agricultural equipment to the country. Its donations were distributed to monasteries, farmers, and retired military officers who wished to pursue farming. The founder and principal figure of the organization was Igor Leonidovich Novosiltsov. He was born in 1905 in Kaluga, Russia, into an old noble family. After the Revolution, in 1920, he emigrated with his family to Yugoslavia. Novosiltsov graduated from the Russian Cadet Corps and later moved to Czechoslovakia. During World War II, he lived in Germany, where he worked at the Vineta radio station in Berlin, broadcasting to the USSR. After the war, Novosiltsov moved to Italy, where he served as a representative of the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR), assisting former Soviet citizens in avoiding forced repatriation to Stalin's regime. Novosiltsov settled in the United States in 1962, where he taught Russian at the U.S. Air Force School at Syracuse University and wrote articles on the history of the Russian Liberation Movement (ROA). He died in 2002.
