This trip cruised the Pacific, collecting specimens of fish, stopping in Alaska, the Aleutian Islands, Japan, and Hawaii. Many of Burke's entries describe his visits to villages and cities on route, including Nagasaki, Kyoto, Yokohama, and Tokyo.

Biographical/Historical Sketch

Burke earned his a.b. (1907), M.A. (1908), and Ph.D. (1912) in zoology at Stanford University. He then taught at Washington State University.
