This series comprises materials produced by organizations at the local, state and federal level involved in refugee issues. The materials include correspondence, government documents, organizational papers, periodicals and other printed publications. These organizations were involved in a variety of refugee issues, including detention centers, repatriation, and the challenges faced by refugees living in the Southeast Asian camps.

Arrangement

The series is arranged alphabetically by topic and chronologically within each file.

Access

Access to petitions for alien relatives and affidavits of relationship is restricted for 50 years from the latest date of the materials in the file. Restrictions are noted at the file level.

This series includes photographs, slides, and audio and video cassette tapes documenting various activities and trips conducted by Project Ngoc. Activities include art exhibits, concerts, and candlelight vigils held to raise money and awareness of refugees and camp conditions in Southeast Asia. Travel to Southeast Asian refugee camps, the people living in the camps, and camp conditions are also depicted in the materials.

The series is arranged by format of material, then alphabetically by topic.

Access

Access to original copies of audio and video recordings is restricted; use copies must be made prior to researcher use of the recordings. 48 hours advance notice is required in order to create use copies, which will then become a permanent part of the collection. This series comprises drawings and paintings done by refugee artists in the Hong Kong camps that were visited by members of Project Ngoc. The artwork focuses on the obstacles faced by the refugees living in the camps and the frustration they felt over their living conditions.

Arrangement

The artwork is arranged alphabetically by artist. All artwork was created during the years of activity of Project Ngoc from 1987-1997. Dates are provided only when the date appeared on the individual piece of art. The majority of the artwork contains artist names and titles in Vietnamese. Quan Tran provided translation services for the artist and title names.
