Sergei Taneev was a Captain in the Russian Imperial army, and was married to Tinatine Djordjadze. Taneev’s sister, Anna (married surname Vyrubova) was a lady-in-waiting to Empress Alexandra Fedorovna and one of her closest confidantes.
Includes correspondence, notes, government documents, certificates, printed matter, photographs, and books, relating to the Russian Imperial army and Russian émigré life.
The collection contains original photographic prints of Anna Taneev with members of the Imperial family, postcards addressed to Sergei Taneev, and a draft of Anna's memoirs and correspondence with publishers. The collection includes some photographs and personal papers of Taneev's wife, Tinatine Djordjadze as well. Other items include memoirs of Sofia Satina (Rachmaninoff’s sister), Taneev’s own notes and writings, genealogical documents, and a history of HIM Life Guard Hussar Regiment. Also included are the papers of the father and grandfather of Taneev, both tsarist government officials.
