Biographical/Historical Sketch
Metzler earned his degrees at Stanford University: A.B. in 1919, A.M. in social sciences
in 1925, and Ph.D. in economics in 1929. After earning his Ph.D., he taught economics
and sociology at Northeastern State Teachers College in Oklahoma and then pursued a
career as an economics researcher.
