Biographical/Historical Sketch
Jacob (Jake) Gimbel endowed an annual prize and medal to honor the senior athlete at Stanford University who had shown the
best mental attitude toward athletics.
Records consist of correspondence with winners (mostly outgoing letters), 1930-1960; correspondence between Jake Gimbel and
university officials, 1930-42, and a copy of his will; other related correspondence; and list of winners, 1970.
