Subjects include helicopters and polycopters, hydroelectric projects (including that of Paradise, California), the Nitrafix Process [recovery of nitrogen from engine exhaust], turbine generators, vehicles and transportation, and Chicago Stock Yards Research Division files. The collection also includes two films ("Tow Test Films" and "Polycopter Indoors & Outdoors").

Engineer and inventor, Sterling Beckwith earned his A.B. at Stanford University in 1927 and his M.S. at Pittsburgh in 1929.
