Oral histories conducted by Kathryn Ringrose and sponsored by the Mandeville Dept. of Special Collections of various persons
involved with the establishment and development of the University of California, San Diego in the early 1960s. The interviews
were conducted as part of the 25th anniversary celebration of UCSD's founding. Interviewees include California Governor Edmund
(Pat) Brown, former UC President Clark Kerr, former UC Regent DeWitt A. Higgs, former UCSD Chancellors Herbert York and John
Galbraith, and UCSD faculty James Arnold, Robert Hamburger, Roy Harvey Pearce, Roger Revelle, John Stewart, and Hans Suess.
The collection includes original audiorecordings of the interviews and, except for the Hans Suess interview, finished transcripts
of the recordings. Draft versions of the transcripts have not been retained in the collection.
