Series II.F. Kleinberger & Co. Inc. records, 1906-1971

Physical Description: 8.5 linear feet

Scope and Content Note

This subseries comprises original letters to and copies of letters from Harry G. Sperling, president of Kleinberger Galleries. This portion of the Kleinberger records presumably found its way into the Duveen records through Harry Sperling's work with Duveen Brothers. The correspondence is primarily with other dealers, and includes invoices and paid bills. It also includes letters of expertise from art scholars. Fairly extensive files with Nicholas Karger (1939-1965) and A. Loebl (1928-1969) relate to Kleinberger and Sperling's business in South America and Paris. The records contain a small amount of Harry Sperling's personal bills and papers relating to his travel. The bulk of the records date between 1936-1970.
