Immediate Source of Acquisition note
The Basil J. Vlavianos papers were included in the library of the former Speros Basil Vryonis Center for the Study of Hellenism
donated as the Tsakopoulos Hellenic Collection to the University Library at California State University, Sacramento in 2002.
Additional material was donated by Zita Vlavianos Hosmer in 2005.

Custodial History note
Basil J. Vlavianos assembled these papers over many years. They were later given to the Speros Basil Vryonis Center for the
Study of Hellenism, which donated them to California State University, Sacramento in 2002.
Biographical/Historical note
Basil J. Vlavianos (1903 - 1994) was an international lawyer, professor of diplomatic history, businessman, human rights activist,
journalist, and publisher.

The collection consists of correspondence, research papers and materials, speeches, subject files, financial records, legal
documents, minutes, photographs, clippings/articles, and ephemera collected by Basil J. Vlavianos during his lifetime.
