This collection contains manuscripts, sheet music, concert programs, and materials relating to the Pomona College School of Music.

Biographical / historical:

Stella Mae Ford was born in 1872 in Odell, Illinois, daughter of S. I. Ford. When she was a young girl, her family moved to Pomona, where she attended and graduated from Pomona Public Schools. She continued her education in the music department of Pomona College and earned the distinction of being the first person to receive a diploma from Pomona College School of Music in 1892. Following graduation, she became associated with the Wint D. Ross Music House in Pomona as a pianist and composer, performing frequently at college concerts and events, and later publishing several of her compositions. Stella Mae Ford died in 1923 in Pomona.
