Within this broad series about Japanese and Americans of Japanese descent, predominant subjects include Californias alien land laws, California census and demographics, San Diego housing restrictions, the San Diego fishing industry, Japanese Americans in the arts, the Japanese Friendship Garden in San Diego's Balboa Park, and the World War II experience including subsequent resettlement, redress and reparations for Japanese Americans. Early documents in this series are photocopies Estes obtained for his research purposes.
