The Captain Leighton Robinson Scrapbook of Maritime Clippings, 1928 (SAFR 22223, HDC 1617) consists of a 1926 Yearbook used as a scrapbook by Captain Leighton Robinson.

It contains newspaper clippings related to maritime matters, mostly from 1928. The collection is available for research.

Biography: Captain Leighton Robinson, 1871 Oct 7-1956 Jan 19

Capt. Robinson was born in Cornwall, England in 1871. He went to sea in 1888 and settled in Sausalito, California. He was a shantyman and was recorded with others by Sidney Robertson Cowell at Belvedere, California in 1939. The recordings are available for download at the Library of Congress American Memory Project.

This item was originally given to the San Francisco Maritime Museum and later accessioned into the Golden Gate National Recreation Area museum collection. Later it was transferred to the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park.
