Biography
The American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (ASECS) is a
scholarly group established in 1969 focused on studying the late seventeenth to early
nineteenth centuries. The society holds
annual meetings around the United States and Canada.
ASECS offers fellowships as well as travel grants, and encourages the
development of research and college courses in the area of
eighteenth-century studies. The society publishes two scholarly works,
the 'Eighteenth-Century Studies' journal (ECS), and 'Studies in
Eighteenth-Century Culture' (SECC).
Scope and Content
This collection primarily contains papers and other items related to
the organization and running of the American Society for
Eighteenth-Century Studies (ASECS). Items include general
correspondence, ASECS publications, financial records, and membership
and affiliate information. Materials are primarily paper, but also
include some bound items and photographs. Not all items are dated, but
may range from 1969 to 1997.
