    Summary: These papers pertain to his attendance at Stanford and include registration cards, his scholar's commutation ticket for the Southern Pacific Railway, notebooks from geometry classes, notes from a lecture on steam engines, a letter from Prof. Ellwood Cubberley urging him to return (1899), and Prof. Albert W. Smith's "Notes on Motion in Machines," 1892. There is also one biographical clipping on the occasion of Heiner's 78th birthday, 1951.

    Biographical/Historical Sketch

    Laurence A. Heiner attended classes at Stanford University from 1891 to 1893 and again in 1898. A resident of Redwood City, California, he taught school, was employed by the U. S. Customs House, and had a real estate and insurance business.

    Description of the Collection

    These papers pertain to his attendance at Stanford and include registration cards, his scholar's commutation ticket for the Southern Pacific Railway, notebooks from geometry classes, notes from a lecture on steam engines, a letter from Prof. Ellwood Cubberley urging him to return (1899), and Prof. Albert W.
