The collection contains a short historical sketch of the organization and its records, including by-laws, minutes of meetings,
membership lists, financial statements and correspondence.
The Isla Vista Improvement Association was an organization formed by Isla Vista landowners "to promote the welfare and general
improvement of the Isla Vista area." The Association held monthly meetings concerned with issues such as taxes, sewers, street
signs and sidewalks. The Association presented the interests of stakeholders to local government. Meetings were attended by
representatives of UCSB and the county government. In 1967, the Isla Vista Improvement Association merged with the Isla Vista
Homeowners Association to form the Isla Vista Association.
