The Charles Whittlesey drawings of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Co. Alvarado Hotel building span 3 linear feet and date from circa 1904. - Biographical / historical:

Charles F. Whittlesey was born in Alton, Illinois on March 10, 1867. He worked as a draftsman for Louis Sullivan before opening his own architectural practice in Chicago. In 1890, at the age of 33, Whittlesey was appointed chief architect for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, during which appointment he was responsible for designing hotels and railway stations adjacent to the railroad tracks. The Alvarado Hotel and Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Depot was designed by Whittlesey. The structures were demolished circa 1970.
