    Acquisition Information

    Most of the hard copies of the Museum's newspapers are in the Research Library. The Seaver Center has a few scattered and incomplete runs of various newspapers. Some of these runs, although small, are important. For example, Seaver has hard copies of the Los Angeles Star, 1870-1877.

    Scope and Content of Collection

    Primarily microfilmed holdings include rare, early newspapers of Los Angeles and Southern California. Some early foreign publications. English, Spanish, French and other languages. 1851-1999, undated For holdings, visit the California Newspaper Project website: http://cnp.ucr.edu/ and search their Public Access Public Newspaper Catalog on the institution field "LA Natural History Museum". Also, card file in Reading Room card catalog.
