Administrative History:
After serving as Provost and professor of intercultural studies at Biola University from 1988 to 2000, Dr. Sherwood Lingenfelter
was installed as Dean of the School of World Mission in 1999. In 2003 he was installed as Provost where he served with distinction
until June 2011.
With his wife, Dr. Judith
Lingenfelter, he lived for three years in the Yap Islands of Micronesia; engaged in additional research in Brazil, Cameroon, and Suriname;
and over the past two decades has continued to contribute to the field of mission through consulting, training, and speaking. Books
Lingenfelter has authored include most recently
Leading Cross-culturally: An Incarnational Model for Power-Giving Leadership, and he has taught such courses at Fuller as Culture and Transformation; Culture, Human Sexuality, and Ministry; and Leaders,
Denominational Structures, and Missional Churches.

Dr. Sherwood Lingenfelter is an anthropologist, professor of anthropology, and College and Seminary Administrator. The collection
includes 4 linear feet of Yap (Yap Islands of Micronesia) research notes and documents as well as 12 linear feet of Fuller
Theological Seminary School of World Mission (now School of Intercultural Studies) and Provost’s Offices administrative files.
