This is a typed copy of a manuscript entitled "Notes of an Interview With Hon. Thomas Gates by E.J. Trippel." The document is undated but the content within refers to a prison riot known as the Gates Riot which occurred on October 27, 1887 at the Yuma Territorial Prison in Arizona. The manuscript itself is undated.
Background
Thomas Gates was born in Canada on 1833, 8 Jan., to Hiram Gates and Sarah Maria Sayles. He later married Maria Emilie Prudhomme. He passed away on 1896, 13 March, in Yuma Territorial, Yuma, Yuma, Arizona Territory.
