    Scope and Content of Collection

    This collection includes images of Harvard University; the rural scenery of New England; murals in the Library of Congress; the Smithsonian Institute; the Washington Monument; the United States Capitol building; the Liberty Bell; an Eskimo mother and her child; gardens; portraits of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Eliza Allen Clark, W. C. Bryant, and James Whitcomb Riley; two Christmas themed scenes; and working men of African and Chinese descent. Photographers of this collection include the McIntosh Stereopticon Company, Samuel Townsend, L. Manasse, F. Jay Haynes, Max Platz, B. L. Singley, Hawley C. White, and Underwood & Underwood.
