The General Engineering & Dry Dock Company shipyard photograph, 1919-1923, (SAFR 00378, P83-008) is comprised of a photograph of MARTHA BUEHNER (built 1911; steam schooner) and LAKE FILBERT (built 1919; freighter) at General Engineering & Dry Dock Company in Alameda, California. Background
LAKE FILBERT, built in 1919 for the U.S. Shipping Board, was sold to the Alaska Steamship Company in 1922 or 1923 and renamed NABESNA. A.M. SIMPSON, built in 1911 for the Simpson Lumber Company, was sold to the Buehner Lumber Company in 1916 and renamed MARTHA BUEHNER.
