Background
David M. Kennedy is a Pulitzer Prize-winning historian specializing in American history. Born in Seattle, Kennedy received
his A.B. in History from Stanford (1963) and MA (1964) and PhD (1968) from Yale. At Stanford since 1967, Kennedy is the Donald
J. McLachlan Professor of History and the Director of the Bill Lane Center for the American West.
