Library purchase, 2013.
35 2.25 x3.25 in. black and white snapshots of Eskimos and their villages, some with handwritten captions on the backs. Images include wooden sculptures and structures; kayaks being repaired; baskets and women weaving; hundreds of herring strung up to dry; shots of men, women, and children in various locations, in both traditional and modern clothing; a woman chewing a leather sole to soften it. Of some interest are the editorial comments in some of the captions, such as “Katie is really cute for a native.” From dealer's description.
