Scope and Content

Record Series 403 contains the administrative files of the UCLA Library Cataloging Division. Files regard general cataloging, cataloging at UCLA, classification, University Research Library (URL, later known as the Charles E. Young Research Library, or YRL), UCLA Library departments, academic departments, academic departmental libraries, and library collections. Materials include statistics and operational documents.
Additionally, Record Series 403 documents the 1963-1964 move of materials from College/Powell Library to URL with planning documents, sampling tally sheets, summary sheets, shelf inventories, frequency distributions, and equipment organization.
This is an inactive record series; no additional University records are expected to be added.
