Scope and content:

Clippings, correspondence, manuscripts, publicity, academic papers, political flyers, organizational contact lists, newssheets, photographs, notes, and college course material documenting the professional and political activities of gay educator and activist, Don Amador. Amador developed one of the nation's first accredited college courses in gay studies; he was also a candidate for State Assembly in 1977, as well as for the Los Angeles City Council in 1980.

Biographical / historical:

Don Amador (1943-1992) served in the U.S. Navy. He was aide to Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley, and later he was a candidate for the California State Assembly in 1977, and for the Los Angeles City Council in 1980. Los Angeles Community College professor and gay activist, Amador developed one of the nation's first accredited college courses in gay studies.
