creator:
Lesbian and Gay Community Services Center (New York, NY).
Founded in 1983, the Lesbian and Gay Community Services Center (New York) began as the AIDS crisis impelled a coalition of
gay and lesbian charitable organizations to negotiate the purchase of a municipal building (a former trade high school located
in Greenwich Village) to serve as a centralized site for provision of health care and counseling, as well as cultural and
social services to New York's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. Steve Ault is among the Center's founding
members.
