The Moscone Collection consists of a broad range of materials created and accumulated by George Moscone throughout his career
George Moscone was born in San Francisco in 1929. He graduated from the College of the Pacific (now University of the Pacific)
in 1953, and received his law degree from Hasting College of Law. After serving in the Navy, he started a private practice
in San Francisco. He served on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors (1963-1966), in the California State Senate 1967-1976,
and Mayor of San Francisco from 1976 until he was assassinated in 1978.
