A cold but very beautiful day felt very much indisposed in the forenoon, but better towards evening this is what should have
been a day of rest. But it is sadly broken for from morning to night the sounds of [illegible] could be heard all over camp.
Feel much easier in my mind today read a little works called [illegible] wells Bible and was much pleased with it. Had a long
talk with Dr. Munson on religious topics. No news from home. "'Now', it is gone: our brief hours post travel. Each with its
thought or deed, to why or how great. But know-each parting hour given up a [illegible] dwell within us- an eternal now, anon."
Another beautiful day but very cold. Felt much better than usual kept house for Dr. Munson he being absent of the [illegible]
Hospital, the Medical Director of the Corps. visited the Hosp. today and examined the inmates, Gen. Warren is again in command
of the 29 Corps. Gen. Hancock being [illegible] to Washington wrote to Prof. [illegible] to afternoon also wrote to Hudsen
Tayler Bookseller Washington D.C. for Rebellion Record. No news from home, one of the men of my company was a visit to us
today he says the Rebel, are compelled to have 3 lines of [illegible] to prevent desertion and that they are very insolent.
