Stanton General Hospital. A very cold day. news of great Battle in which the old 2nd Corp. were engaged. also my regt. losing
several men our Boys successful No letter received today. Wrote one letter to a friend R. Bishiop of Tompkins Co. N.Y. also
wrote to my Betrothed. feel very well today. About 11 P.M. a fire brokeout in the ward master's room which was well nigh destroyed
the whole hospital. as it was help on the first alarm was speedily gained and the fire was extinguished doing no further damage
than destroying two rooms and the ward master's clothing. [Twas] however as very narrow escape.
