[text above date] Stanton General Hospital. [end text above date] A drizly rainy day. Quite cold and freezing in the Even-ing.
War news quite dull. no-thing of any excitement from any of our Armies. Was mistaken in the idea that Peace [Commissions?]
had arrived 'twas a sensation. They have however arrived at Gen'l Grants Hd. Qrs. and will [proceed?] from thence to Fort
Monroe. when President Lincoln and Sec'y Seward are [sup-posed?] to have [gone?]. Received a letter to day from my little
friends in Rochester (2). F. [name illegible] + M. L[name inelligible]. No word from my Betrothed, nor from my Mother. Thursday
- build our house upon Christ, the mighty corner-stone, Whom God helps, his work is done.
