[text above date]: Stanton W.S. Gen'l Hospital.
Pleasant but quite cold. At work as usual in the office not much to do. Did not go out at all. Not feeling very well. Received
a letter from my Friend Miss [illegible] E. [illegible] of Rochester in answer to mine of the 21st vist, a good letter. In
the afternoon wrote a letter to my love Judith. No news from home. War news good. Sermon says the enemy is about to send Peace
Commissions. At Washington, attended church in the Hospital, sermon by Rev. W.H.L [illegible].
"Sunday-church doors enter in, Rest from [illegible] repent of sin; Strive a heavenly rest to [illegible]."
