A beautiful day, but rather cold, no news of much account from the Armies. from the Rebel Senate news is very exciting, the
members resigning. the Rebel Secretary of War resigned. in the Hospital all day. At work in the office [7.8] received two
letters from my Betrothed. good cheering [illegible] letters. answered the [friends] and enclosed $10. to Miss Judie Underdown.
also to my cousin John [illegible] a letter written.
