A beautiful cold day, at work as usual in the office. War news from the Potomac army all quiet. General Bulter Farewell address
to the army of the James rivaling Napoleans address to his army after defeating the Russian and Austrian armys. Good news
from Sherman he is doing well ere long we will hear of another grand march from Thommas all is well. Inspection of this hospital
by Col. Willson Chief inspector of Hospital. A class in Algebra and Mathematics studied by some guy [teaching here] [joined]
the class in the forenoon recieved communication from [illegible] relating to Printing Press. In the afternoon wrote letter
to an old schoolmate and friend Miss Debbie B. Hedges of Rochestor, NY. Read several chapters in Hitchcocks [Geology]. in
the evening commenced letter for Sunday to Miss Judie U. my betrothed. Have been feeling very well all day. No letter from
home recieved.
