A beautiful sunny day. Good news from Grant. The Enemy attack and capture Fordstead man. But our men really recapture the
fort with 1700 prisoners. The enemy flee leaving 3000 dead and wounded in our hands. Our loss but 800 killed and wounded.
Also good cheering news from all our other great armies wrote two letters and to my Betrothed, and a business letter to H.
[Butcherlel] Phila. Pa. in the evening, our moon called upon some transformation had a good social shot with him. Felt quite
well since pain in the wound. No letters received.
