North Los Angeles Street, the last vestige of Old Chinatown before it was razed to make way for a freeway. The historic Lugo
House, the white-gabled building at the extreme left, is where Los Angeles' original water ditch flowed into the El Pueblo
plaza
Parts of Los Angeles' Old Chinatown, located in the historic El Pueblo plaza, were razed in the 1930s to make way for Union
Station. The remainder was destroyed in the 1940s to create space for a freeway. Residents relocated several blocks north
and west to form New Chinatown and China City
